Possession-Themed Creative Photography in Columbus, Ohio

Bridgette is the kind of person who could school you on Star Wars lore without breaking a sweat, all while sipping on a perfectly crafted cocktail with a cat curled up in her lap. Her love for storytelling—whether it's in a galaxy far, far away or through the lens of a camera—runs deep. For this shoot, she wanted to explore the unsettling feeling of possession, of being trapped in a body moving against her own will, a life seemingly no longer her own. Through raw movement and haunting imagery, she channeled that loss of control, transforming it into something both eerie and captivating.

The Setting:

The Tall Pines of Walnut Park

The Tall Pines of Walnut Park felt like the perfect setting—vast, open, and just eerie enough to bring Bridgette’s vision to life. I knew from the start that I wanted to make her levitate, to capture that unsettling feeling of being pulled by an unseen force. We needed space, freedom, and a location that carried its own quiet intensity. The towering trees, their branches stretching endlessly upward, created a sense of isolation and weightlessness, as if the forest itself existed between worlds. It made sense—this was where possession could truly take form.

Bridgette and I met to plan this shoot at what has now become one of my favorite cocktail spots in Columbus. What started as a simple brainstorming session quickly turned into a deep dive into everything we love—Star Wars, horror films, life, relationships. We ran the gamut, jumping from passionate debates about the best Sith Lords to the eerie beauty of possession in cinema. Somewhere between sips of expertly mixed drinks and laughter over shared stories, the concept for this shoot began to take shape.

At its core, this wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about emotion—about the terrifying loss of control and the desperate fight to reclaim it. Bridgette wanted to explore what it feels like to be a passenger in your own body, and I knew I wanted to bring that to life visually. By the end of the night, we had a vision—one that felt raw, haunting, and deeply personal. Now, all that was left was to create it.

Technical Aspects of the Shoot

For this session, I used my Sony A7IV paired with a mix of lenses: the Sigma 85 Art 1.4, Sony GMaster 24-70 2.8, and Sigma Art 35 1.4. I also incorporated Prism FX’s kaleidoscope filter, adding a touch of surrealism to the images. The focus was on shape, motion, and capturing her eyes—the windows to her creative soul.
