By the time Alkaline Trio took the stage at KEMBA Live!, the air was already thick with anticipation and adrenaline, thanks to a scorcher of a set from Spanish Love Songs. But as soon as the lights dimmed and the ominous opening riff of “Cringe” reverberated through the venue, it was clear that Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano, and Derek Grant were about to remind everyone why they’ve been punk rock’s shadowy overlords for over two decades.
